Message from our President
I hope that you all enjoyed a blessed Christmas, a Happy New
Year, and are sufficiently rested to meet the challenges we face in
2010. Your board and I thank you for your confidence in electing us
to another term, and we are honored to serve you. Our goal remains
focused on growth, education and electing CONSERVATIVE
Republicans.
The midterm elections this year may well be more important to the
future of America than even the Presidential election in 2012. We
must work tirelessly to take away the absolute control of an
administration that treats terrorism as civilian crime, giving all the
rights of an American citizen to the terrorist. An administration that
attempts to take control, behind closed doors, of one-sixth of our
economy through our health care system, one which plans to use
back door methods through EPA regulations, to get through Cap
and Trade. We can't let our guard down for a minute. Remember, a
major portion of the stimulus money has yet to be spent, and I
believe this has been by design, to distribute it right before the
mid-term elections.
The primary elections will be held on August 24, 2010. There are
crucial seats on the ballot, local state and Federal. We will play a
very active roll this year, with our eyes on the general election to be
held on November 2, 2010. In order to build up our funds, we will
be having a Republican Women's yard sale in the Spring, probably
in April. We hope to be able to help erect billboards, contribute
toward office space and other costs of winning elections. We
expect to register voters and hopefully get our message out to the
community, as well. The day will be fun as well as hard work, and
will give you the opportunity to turn your unwanted goods into
another's treasures. I hope you will donate a few hours of time to
this event.
Beginning with the January meeting, the cost of lunch will be $17.00
for members and $20.00 for non-members after their first luncheon.
Now there is a financial benefit to becoming a member. The
National Federation has raised their dues by $3.00 and we have not
chosen to raise our dues to keep pace. We have had too many
people, of late, who having heard about our great club from
members, made reservations and didn't show up. We still must
pay for the lunch when that happens.
We have some great speakers coming up this year, and I know you
won't want to miss them. This month we are pleased to hear from
Tom Garcia, who is running for the U.S. Congressional seat now
held by Democrat Suzanne Kosmas. This seat is crucial to return
to the Republican column. I look forward to seeing you on January
22, 2010.
