Message from our President
Thus far into 2010 it has been great to be a conservative
Republican.  With the election of Republican Scott Brown as the
Senator from Massachusetts the Democrats have lost their super
majority and will be unable to ram through their ultra liberal agenda.
Also, just tonight, we have one more reason to be optimistic.  Craig
Becker, President O'Bama's nominee to sit on the National Labor
Relations board failed to get the necessary votes to pass the
Senate.  Many believe, because of his past writings, that he would
use his position to advance the objectives of labor unions over the
will of the Senate or the people.

Despite the good news, we must keep the momentum going, and
not let our guard down. Speaker Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid are
continuing to meet behind closed doors to pass their health care
plan.  And, President O'Bama doesn't seem to be getting the
message from the American people.  Prior to his election he said,
"We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United
States of America" He seems to think that the power of his
personality will cause us to accept his proposals.  We do not like
the SUBSTANCE of his policies, and we don't want America
fundamentally changed.

Last month, we heard from Tom Garcia, candidate for U.S.
Congress.  Not only were we privileged to hear his stances on the
issues, but we got a first-hand account of his relief efforts as a pilot
flying in supplies to help the people of Haiti following the
devastating earthquake. We thank him for his efforts.

I realize that many of you were disappointed to hear that Marco
Rubio will not be here in February.  He has been rescheduled for
our April meeting.  Please wait to make your reservations until the
beginning of April, as too much confusion is caused by making the
reservations months in advance.

In other news, the AFRWC yard sale has definitely been set for April
17th , so please put that on your calendars, and sign up to help out.
If any of you have items ready to go, you may call me and arrange to
bring them over.

AFRWC has over 40 people going to hear Sarah Palin on Feb 15th .
We are all excited, and appreciate the conservative message she
is able to get out to the country.

Our speaker this month will be Karen Diebel.  She is the third
candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives seat now held by
Suzanne Kosmas.  Karen is vice mayor and city commissioner from
Winter Park, a strong business woman, with a degree in finance
from Notre Dame University.  I hope to see you on February 26th .
