Message from our President
What an exciting meeting we had in July. We had almost
150 in attendance, and were privileged to hear from so many
outstanding Conservative, Republican candidates. It was such a
pleasure to hear them each say what they would do if elected, rather
than criticize each other.
Now it is time to let your voices be heard. Traditionally, voter
turn-out during an off year election, especially for the primaries, is
extremely low. Let all of us demonstrate how fired up we Republicans
are this year, and turn out in record numbers. Please make certain
that you, as well as your friends and family get to the polls.
Ronald Reagan said, "Freedom is never more than one
generation away from extinction". At the rate this administration is
moving to take away our individual liberties, we can't afford to sit back
and watch. Make no mistake about it; we are in the fight of our lives to
take our country back.
When we meet for our August meeting, we will know who our
candidates are for the general election in November. I am asking you
all to work with me and your board as hard as possible to assure
Republican victory in November. We, as Federated Women and men,
are part of the most effective political group in the nation, and we can
play a huge role in changing the balance of power in Washington, as
well as electing Republicans to state and local offices.
As we have learned this year, in politics, we must be flexible. Our
speaker this month was to have been Congressman John Mica but
he had a scheduling conflict for this month; so Congressman Mica
will be here in October.
We are fortunate to have as our speaker this month, State Senator
and Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, John Thrasher.
Senator Thrasher restored
respect and integrity to the Republican Party of Florida when he stood
up to Governor Christ and worked to remove Jim Greer as chair of the
Republican Party because of Jim Greer's mismanagement of the
Party. I hope you will join us in welcoming Senator Thrasher and
hearing his ideas for the future in Florida. As always, he will be
available to take your questions.
