Speaker Lynda Bell

Lynda Bell is the president of Florida Right to Life, where she lobbies for the state organization and the Florida

delegate to the National Right to Life board of directors, where she serves as the chairmanof the board. 

Lynda is also currently serving on the Florida Communities Trust. She was appointed by Governor RIck Scott.

Lynda was a Miami Dade County Commissioner where she served as the vicechairman of the board. Prior to that she was elected mayor of Homestead in 2007, making her the first and only woman mayor in the city’s 100-year history.

In 2015 Lynda graduatedwith honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Supervision and Management from MiamiDade College School of Business. She was inducted into the International Honor Societyfor business school students.

She has won numerous awards and was the recipient of theAthena Award by the Homestead-Florida City Chamber of Commerce in 2004. She receivedthe “I am Blessed Award” at the Dade County Days in Tallahassee in 2009.

In 2012, inhonor of Women’s History Month (March) she received awards for “Women First: Miami Women Who Led the Way,”“In the Company of Women,” and the “American Society for Public Administration.” Her name has been read into theCongressional Record for being the first and only woman mayor in the city of Homestead. She has debated many issuesfor Florida Right to Life, including the authorization for the Choose Life license plate, embryonic stem cell research,euthanasia, and partial-birth abortion. She has appeared on many local and national television and radio programs.

Lynda has been married to Mark for more than thirty-six years. She has three married daughters and 12 grandchildren, their ages range from 4 years to almost twenty four years.
